Meet Francine, a young entrepreneur in Goma who is proving that even in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, young people can turn challenges into opportunities.
Francine produces natural biocosmetics, including soaps and lotions, using agricultural products sourced from local farmers. She also reuses plastic containers from lotions and liquid soaps as packaging for her products, giving waste a second life.
A triple impact
Protecting the environment: reducing plastic waste through reuse.
Supporting local farmers: creating a market for locally sourced agricultural products.
Building economic independence: developing a sustainable source of income through entrepreneurship.
With financial support from Fountain of Hope Africa’s Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment Program, Francine has transformed her knowledge into a growing enterprise whose benefits extend beyond her own business.
In crisis-affected Eastern DRC, investing in young entrepreneurs means investing in dignity, resilience, and stronger local economies. Francine is not simply a program participant. She is part of the solution.
