Who We Are
Fountain of Hope Africa is a charitable nonprofit organization founded on non-discriminatory principles and committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. FOH focuses especially on marginalized women and children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Malawi.
As a community-rooted development and humanitarian organization, FOH brings a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the communities it serves. Working with local knowledge and in partnership with communities, FOH seeks to remove barriers and restore people’s potential. Its team and partners listen to community priorities and work together to design adapted programs that lead to sustainable transformation.
FOH believes in continuity and sustainability: being present before others arrive and remaining after they leave. The organization is driven by a deep commitment to the communities it serves and a belief in their ability to thrive.
Our Mission
To craft adapted and long-lasting solutions for the most vulnerable through education, empowerment and advocacy.
FOH’s work is informed by lived experience. Founder and Executive Director Marcel Cirhuza lived in Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi for more than a decade after fleeing insecurity in Eastern DRC. That experience gives FOH a personal understanding of displacement and the humanitarian challenges affecting the communities it serves.

FOH recognizes that unequal access to resources and opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa is shaped by economic, gender, education, disability and other inequalities. Addressing these barriers requires advocacy, capacity building, improved infrastructure, social awareness and sustained efforts to promote equity, inclusion and diversity.
